About

We are a recently established association committed to leaving a positive impact on our environment.

Based in Mies, Vaud.

The aims of our association are:

  • Reduce Food Waste
  • Regenerate local soil
  • Encourage a Community Spirit
  • Leave a Positive impact on our Environment 

We plan to achieve our aims by:

Inspiring and Educating people on the importance of composting
and asking people to be more mindful of food waste.

We offer a service to our local community, a weekly food waste collection, done by bike. We collect the organic waste from households and small businesses, which we turn into compost to deliver back to the local community. 

Currently there is no other such service in our area.

What Languages do you use?

We live in a French speaking area, so French is very important,
however my mother tongue is English, so it's easier for me to communicate in English.
(Our website will need to be both French & English)

How do you measure your impact?

We will weigh every collection we make.
Individual households should have access to that information to follow their progress.
Once a year the Community Compost will publish the total weight of our collections and equate that to compost produced plus waste kept out of the general collection and the impact that has on the environment eg Carbon sequestration & reduced methane.

How is waste collected?

We supply households and small businesses with a Community Compost bin. Each bin has a lid, a handle and our branding on the side. They are durable enough to be kept outside.
Households are required to separate their waste, any organic waste can go into our Community Compost bin.
Once a week we collect the bin, replacing it with a clean bin. We take our collection to our composting facility, wash the bins ready for the following collection.

In keeping with the ethos of our association, all our collections are done by bike with trailer.

What area do you service?

To start we will in the Founex area. Eventually expanding into the neighbouring communes and selected businesses in the Nyon area.

Our compost depot is in Commugny, about 4km from Founex.

Can you provide volunteers with a bike?

We currently have one Community Compost bike with trailer and one spare (but heavy) bike available.
